ARTIST STATEMENT
Exploring Classical and Folk Mythologies with Old Masters Drawing and Painting Techniques
My intuitive multidisciplinary practice combines classical figurative drawing and painting techniques and mediums with contemporary approaches, deconstructive methodologies and cross-disciplinary exploration. I investigates mythological, psychological and philosophical ideas through a focus on the nuanced relationship between subject and object and the endeavoured reconciliation between finality and ephemera.
biography
Sophia Shuvalova is a Norwich contemporary fine artist and an experienced adult learning art teacher. A Fine Art alumni from Norwich University of the Arts Sophia holds a studio at Outpost Studios and regularly exhibits, both locally and internationally, recently showing at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.
